OSHA Training
The public is invited to a 10-hour OSHA training course on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Chilmark Community Center. The course will be led by certified OSHA outreach trainer Charlie T. Opalenik. The cost is $50 per person; for information call Jackie at 508-696-6400. The event is hosted by Powers Electric.
Because shipments of seasonal influenza vaccine will arrive on the Vineyard later than expected, the annual Islandwide innoculation will be postponed until the second week of November.
Seasonal flu innoculation is now scheduled to take place at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School on Nov. 11.

Search for Local Heroes
The American Red Cross, Cape Cod and Islands Chapter, is once again looking for nominations for local heroes. These heroes will be recognized at the upcoming eighth annual heroes breakfast on March 4, 2010, in Hyannis.
Heroes must live on Cape Cod, Nantucket or Martha’s Vineyard and the heroic act must have been performed between Dec. 26, 2008 and Dec. 21, 2009. The nominating committee will select heroes in an array of award categories, including firefighter, good samaritans, and mentors and diversity.
