Run the Race, Support the Cause

Lace up the running shoes — even if you’re walking — it’s almost time for the Oak Bluffs Columbus Day 5K Road Race. The race gives runners and walkers a healthy fall activity (and, for a few, first-place trophies), plus the opportunity to help families find a safe, decent affordable home they can call their own on Martha’s Vineyard — race proceeds benefit the Island Affordable Housing Fund.

Controlled Burn

The Vineyard Golf Club will be conducting a prescribed burn of native grass areas of the course. The purpose is to control invasive broadleaf weeds and woody material and to promote little bluestem and fine fescues in native grass areas of the course. The burn will be supervised by Northeast Forest and Fire Management LLC and will occur between Oct. 12 and next April, as determined by the Edgartown fire department.
