Meg and Dan Athearn announce the birth of a daughter, Penelope Louise Athearn, born on Nov. 12, 2012 at 25 Homeward Way in Chilmark at a planned home birth. Penelope weighed 8 pounds, 12 ounces at birth, and is welcomed by her Island friends and family, and most of all by her parents and siblings, Clara and Zeb.
Susan Clark and Arthur Smith of Edgartown announce the birth of a daughter, Greta Kathleen Smith, born on Nov. 13, 2012 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Greta weighed 6 pounds, 9.7 ounces at birth.
Brooke Joi Leahy and Lawrence R. Leahy Jr. of Edgartown announce the birth of a son, Michael Lawrence Leahy, born on Nov. 8, 2012 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Michael weighed 7 pounds, 15.8 ounces at birth.
Kate Foley and Joe Ragosta of Chilmark announce the birth of a son, Joseph Ronan Ragosta, born on Nov. 8, 2012 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Joseph weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces at birth.
Andy J. Estrella, owner of Vineyard Yoga, graduated from the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy on Nov. 9 with a master’s in the practice of osteopathic manipulative science (M.OMSc).
This is the latest accomplishment in Mr. Estrella’s continuing education. After graduating from Springfield College in 2000 with a bachelor’s of science degree, he completed training to become a certified Bikram hot yoga instructor, a licensed massage therapist and a certified craniosacral therapist. He is now a certified osteopath, as well.
Joseph and Vivian Costa celebrated 60 years of marriage on Oct. 1, 2012. The family gathered this past August at their annual family reunion, aptly named The Costapalooza, to celebrate Joe and Vivian’s milestone. With one great-grandchild and one on the way, the Costa family is showing the next generation the importance and joy of their family connections. Twenty-one family members gathered around for food, song and laughter, capturing many special moments in pictures.
