An 83-year-old woman emerged without injuries after her car rolled over on North Road in West Tisbury on Saturday.
Shortly after noon, West Tisbury police responded to a call about a 2004 Volkswagen Bug that had veered off the shoulder of the first bend in North Road heading toward Chilmark. The sole occupant of the car was Lucille W. Plotz of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Chilmark, who was found unharmed when first responders arrived. She was transported to the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital for examination where she was later released, police said.
Oak Bluffs police arrested a 35-year-old Oak Bluffs man last Thursday morning after he reportedly broke into an apartment on Uncas avenue and threatened to kill a man and woman living there while brandishing a handgun.
According to a press release from police, Richard J. Brymer kicked in the door to the apartment while wearing a bandanna over his face. He pistol-whipped the man and put the gun to the side of his head and told him he was going to kill him, police said.
Policemen were giving drivers two options at Beetlebung corner on Monday afternoon after the Coast Guard boathouse in Menemsha caught fire. They could either turn onto Middle Road or South Road. Menemsha Crossroad remained closed.
Motorist Injured
An Island woman was seriously injured during a single-vehicle accident early Monday morning at the intersection of Old County and State Roads in West Tisbury.
It was a busy but relatively smooth Fourth of July weekend for Edgartown police, who made several drunk driving arrests, assisted some intoxicated revelers who lost their way and handled crowd control during the jam-packed holiday parade and fireworks display on Sunday.
Officer Stephanie Immelt said police responded to 120 calls, not including routine calls for house alarms, suspicious activities and traffic stops.

A 20-year-old inmate at the Edgartown house of correction has been accused of attacking another inmate after a disagreement over a washing machine in jail laundry facilities last month. James Mettelus was arraigned in Edgartown district court last Monday on a single charge of assault and battery.
Mr. Mettelus came to the Island from the school for boys on Penikese Island. At the school he allegedly assaulted two counselors; after he was transferred to jail in Edgartown he reportedly attacked another inmate last August.
