An Edgartown woman was issued a citation following a two-vehicle collision on Christmas day at the intersection of Old County and State Roads in West Tisbury.
Police said the accident caused major front end damage to both vehicles but no injuries to either driver.
A Vineyard man who was seriously injured in high-speed crash last Saturday night on State Road in West Tibsury has been charged with negligent driving by West Tisbury police.
William Scott, 28, of West Tisbury, was just past the junction of County Road headed up-Island at approximately 12:08 a.m. when he lost control of a 1997 Volkswagen Jetta, crossed the opposite lane at high speed and slammed into an oak tree.
He is cited for failure to stay in marked lanes, speed greater than reasonable and negligent operation of a vehicle.
The holiday spirit was briefly shattered two weeks ago when three men reportedly stole a Salvation Army can full of donated money from the Vineyard Haven Stop & Shop that was meant to go toward helping needy Island families.
But thanks to deft police work by Tisbury police, especially Det. Mark Santon, the three suspects have been charged and all the money returned to the Salvation Army.
Oak Bluffs police arrested a Colorado woman last Friday after she reportedly backed into a police cruiser parked on Circuit avenue.
Police are seeking to charge Nicole Miller, 29, of Boulder, Col., with operating under the influence of alcohol. If charged it will be her second subsequent charge for drunk driving. She also faces numerous other motor vehicle charges.
Oak Bluffs police had a busy weekend and made several arrests.
Around 7:30 p.m. on Friday police responded to a domestic incident at 6 Sachem Way and arrested 48-year-old Cesar Marquez of Aquinnah for assault and battery. Just before 11:30 p.m. on the same evening, police arrested Justin Denniston, 27, of Pembroke for assault and battery after picking him up on Circuit avenue.
Tisbury police this week arrested two young men and charged them with the robbery of a 79-year-old Capawock theatre employee who was dropping off receipts for the evening in a nearby overnight bank deposit box.
Michael Ellis, 20, of Edgartown was taken into custody on Tuesday and Brett Geddis, 18, of Vineyard Haven was taken into custody on Wednesday. Both are suspected of robbing George Buckley on the evening of Sept. 30.
