Lisa Brown and Brent Brown of Oak Bluffs announce the birth of a daughter, Maybeline Anne Brown, born on August 4, 2010, at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Maybeline weighed 9 pounds, 2 ounces at birth.

Clarification

A story in Tuesday’s Gazette about changes on the board of directors for the Quansoo Beach Association did not make clear that longtime association treasurer Bonnie George’s decision to step down was unrelated to pressure over the legal dispute with the Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation. Mrs. George was asked to stay on the board.

Thomas (TJ) Mello, 49, of Tisbury is a familiar Vineyard face. For 29 years he worked as a clerk for the Steamship Authority. He would check people in as they lined up to board the boat in Vineyard Haven, always offering a smile.

He retired last May, turning his attention to his love for being on the water. “I think I’ve checked everyone in on the ferry at least once,” Mr. Mello said in an interview.

Elizabeth Morgan has become a licensed architect in the commonwealth of Massachusetts, following completion of the architectural registration exams, according to Kuhn Riddle Architects, located in Amherst.
