The long agenda for the Tisbury selectmen this week included topics that ranged from oil in ponds to drugs in taxis, from the competence of moped drivers to interpersonal relations within town committees, from the construction of sidewalks on State Road to the dredging of the harbor. The board even looked beyond town boundaries to consider ways it might help its cash-strapped neighbor, Oak Bluffs.

On the external relations front, board chairman Geoghan Coogan suggested Tisbury should offer whatever help it could to Oak Bluffs.

After a quiet month on the harbor, amplified outdoor music is back in Oak Bluffs. Selectmen voted to drop the town’s recent, controversial music ban, at least for two weeks, before an overflow crowd of musicians at Tuesday’s board meeting. Music will be allowed at the harborfront bars in Oak Bluffs until 9 p.m. during the next two weeks while the town continues to evaluate its policy on noise.

On Tuesday the town of Oak Bluffs will ask exhausted voters once more to come out to exercise their civic duty at a special town meeting. This time voters will be asked to transfer over $216,000 to cover the current fiscal year budget shortfalls including $106,000 from the town’s so-called “rainy day” fund to cover unforeseen health insurance costs.
