Elizabeth A. Moriarty, nurse practitioner, and Dr. Richard F. Sullivan have joined the Island Health Care rural health clinic in Edgartown.
Ms. Moriarty started in May, coming from Hampden County Physician Associates in western Massachusetts. Dr. Sullivan takes over as Medical Director for Dr. John Lamb, who served in that capacity for over five years and will now be operating solely out of his practice at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital.

Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity supports families in need on the Vineyard and next week Island families can support Habitat for Humanity, too.
Seastreak is selling tickets for a Fourth of July fireworks cruise to benefit Habitat for Humanity of Martha’s Vineyard. The seats are on the top deck of the catamaran for prime viewing of the Edgartown fireworks. The boat leaves from Oak Bluffs at 7:45 p.m., but passengers should board at 7:30 p.m.
Painting ought to come naturally to West Tisbury’s John Athearn. George Brehm, the Saturday Evening Post cover illustrator and children’s book illustrator, was his grandfather. George’s brother, Worth, also a Post cover illustrator and children’s book illustrator, was his great uncle. His aunt June Tabor of Chilmark is a painter. His niece Morgan Taylor is a graphic artist. And West Tisbury painter Allen Whiting is a third cousin.
Last fall Alison Shaw awoke before the sun, planning to photograph Lewis Bay lighthouse on the Hyannis Harbor. That was the agenda for the day, but the clear blue sky called for other plans.
“As soon as the sun came up, I looked around and thought, ‘Oh look, there’s the Nantucket ferry. It’s a gorgeous day, the conditions are right — I’m going to Nantucket today.’”
