Academy Open House

Falmouth Academy will host an admissions open house on Saturday, May 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. for families interested in learning more about the school. A van will pick up Vineyard families at 2 p.m. in Woods Hole to transport them to the school, and will return to Woods Hole in time for the 5 p.m. ferry.

More than 20 students from the Vineyard will attend the school next year.

Belly Dancing Review

Save the date for a belly bonanza. Innies, outies, top moons and half-and-halfs will all be on display and moving fast at the Vineyard Bellydance and Revue jiggling your way on Friday, May 11 at the Katharine Cornell Theatre.

Those with the skinny call it the Shimmy.

The event features guest dancers from around New England, music and dance styles from various countries and works by eight different choreographers.

Registration is now open for the Adult and Community Education (ACE MV) June 23 one-day University on arts, culture, and sustainability.

The event runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and features selections from 13 workshops, 8 roundtable discussions and over 20 exhibits that explore creative ways to enhance sustainable living.

Sharky’s Dine to Donate All Day on May 8 is dedicated to Daybreak Clubhouse. This program is part of Community Services and provides a safe and supportive environment for members working toward optimal mental health and independence.

All day long, either dine in or take-out, Sharky’s donotes 15 per cent of all food sales to Daybreak.This includes the Chowder Company too, (part of the Sharky’s empire).

There will also be a benefit raffle at the Edgartown Sharky’s beginning at 5 p.m.

Land Bank Walk

On Sunday, May 6, at 1 p.m. the Martha’s Vineyard Land Bank staff lead a guided walk of Poucha Pond Reservation in Edgartown. Anyone interested should meet at the trailhead for Poucha Pond Reservation located off Wasque Road.

Actors Wanted

The Vineyard Playhouse is holding professional auditions by appointment only for Actors’ Equity Association (AEA) actors on Monday, May 7, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Roles are available in two shows, The Screenwriter’s Daughter by Larry Mollin, and Fenway: A Vineyard Love Letter by Randal Myler. These shows will be performed this summer but not at the Playhouse as renovations are not expected to be complete until late fall.
