Island Community Chorus
This weekend, the Island Community Chorus, under the direction of Peter Boak, will present two performances of its spring 2012 concert program, Beethoven and Friends, at the Performing Arts Center of the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School.
The chorus is made up of one hundred singers who have been rehearsing weekly since Jan. 9.
The concerts are at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, and 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 1.
Charter School Chats Up Shakespeare
This weekend the Martha’s Vineyard Public Charter School presents A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Grange Hall in West Tisbury. The performances are tonight, Friday, March 30 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 31, at 2 and 7 p.m.
The play features 15 student actors from grades 5 through 12. Lower school students act as fairies, and there will be guest appearances by several teachers, as well as the school’s director, Bob Moore.
Next Friday, April 6, you are going to Boston or be prepared to hear the stories of how you missed the night everyone had their mind blown by being the first to experience a live show of DCLA’s new CD at the Hard Rock Cafe.
There will be no excuses, no whining, no saying it’s a drag to travel off-Island if you don’t have a car.
The boys in the band have arranged for a bus to take Islanders to the show and return them the next day, more or less in one piece.
Preschool Pasta Preview
Giordano’s may still be closed for the off-season but for those who can’t wait until the official opening, Gio’s will be serving a spaghetti dinner to benefit Grace Preschool.
The dinner is on March 31 at Grace Church located on Woodlawn avenue in Vineyard Haven. Dinner can be sitdown beginning at 5 p.m. or takeout beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Cheese and Wine
The posters are all around town, but for those who saw international terrorist instead of international terroir and walked on by, here’s the deal. Terroir is a French word meaning the characteristic taste and aroma imparted on a cheese or wine by the environment in which it was produced.
Garden Gate Benefit
The Garden Gate Child Development Center is throwing its annual Night of Adventure benefit party and auction on March 24 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Wharf in Edgartown.
One of the auction items is a chance to sing with Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish at the Ritz in Oak Bluffs.
Other more sedentary items, include a trip to Florida with Red Sox spring training tickets, breakfast at Linda Jean’s, a Mohegan Sun overnight trip with Wolf Den reserved seating. Full moon bidders beware.
