Jury selection began today at the Edgartown courthouse for an upcoming Dukes County superior court trial stemming from a June 2005 plane crash at Katama Airfield.

The plane’s pilot, Alec Naiman, and his passengers, Jeffrey and Jessica Willoughby, are suing Cessna Aircraft Company, claiming that the accident was the result of faulty rails on the pilot’s seat. Cessna will argue that the crash was due to pilot error.

On Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. the Trustees of Reservations is holding a guided walk through the brickyard ruins of Chilmark. During the walk guides will tell stories of this once prosperous Island industry.

Note, many of these trails are narrow and a small brook crossing is required.

By the end of the grand opening night on Friday, it was standing room only at the Pit Stop.

The newest Oak Bluffs music venue that’s housed in a converted Dukes County avenue garage echoed with jazz, folk and rock and roll as Vineyard musicians took the stage to celebrate the first official concert. The past mingled with the present — old concert posters lined the walls from the garage’s previous incarnations — but the pulse was new.
