The spring sitting of Dukes County superior court wrapped up this week, with a jury convicting a Jamaica Plain man of drug trafficking. Several trials scheduled for the October superior court session.
The percussion of daily life for too many Israelis and Palestinians includes the snare of machine gun fire, or the bass of bomb blasts. But Vineyarder Rick Bausman has ventured to the region, first in 2009 and again 2010, with new rhythms to inspire and unite the next generation of Jews, Muslims and Christians. This October he returns for a nine-day drumming bus tour of the region and he wants Islanders to have the first chance to sign up.
The Vineyard’s youngest fishermen will rise early tomorrow morning. It is time for the Martha’s Vineyard Rod and Gun Club annual trout tournament, at Duarte’s Pond in West Tisbury. The best fishing will be for those who get their lines in the water early. Fishing starts at first light.

Curves of Vineyard Haven will give a free, 30-day membership to any non-member who visits the club during regular operating hours throughout National Women’s Health Week, May 13 to 19. This annual awareness week, coordinated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office on Women’s Health, begins each year on Mother’s Day.
