Hallie and Bob Hughes of Vineyard Haven announce the birth of a daughter, Emma Leighton Hughes, born on May 3, 2012 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Emma weighed 11 pounds at birth.

Alexandra Bullen and Eliot Coutts of West Tisbury announce the birth of a daughter, Evangelia Catherine Coutts, born on May 3, 2012 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Evangelia weighed 6 pounds, 10 ounces at birth.
Alpaca Award
She started in the corporate world and gave it all up for alpaca. Now Barbara Ronchetti will be honored for Building a Better Mousetrap.
The award, presented by small business counseling group Cape Cod SCORE, is given to 15 small business that have survived five years of operation and appear headed for long-term success. Ms. Ronchetti, who began the Island Alpaca Company in 2004, was selected by the Martha’s Vineyard Chamber of Commerce.
Too much sugar in your life? Well, to help introduce her new practice, BodySong Wellness, Lily K. Morris is offering a free workshop this Thursday, May 17, that focuses on sugar issues.
Ms. Morris is a certified health coach by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners, and has recently added holistic health counseling to her established massage practice.
Evening Under the Stars
The Martha’s Vineyard Cancer Support Group, Inc. is holding its annual fundraiser, An Evening Under the Stars, on Thursday, May 17. The event takes place at Lattanzi’s Restaurant in Edgartown from 6 to 9 p.m. There will be hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, beverages, desserts, and music by Mike Benjamin.
The cost is $100 per person.

Garden Tea Party
Featherstone Center for the Arts is going big this weekend with two events.
On Saturday, May 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. they are hosting the third annual Garden Tea Party and Fashion Show. The event takes place outdoors under the tent and seating will be done at tables of eight. Check out the spring fashions while sipping tea, pinkie up or down is fine, and enjoying the beauty of the Featherstone grounds. The cost is $40 per person.
