The next Serving Hands food distribution will be on Wednesday, June 23, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church parish house on William street in Vineyard Haven.
Food will be distributed until it runs out. If you have a pantry card, please bring it.
Food is available for participants who are on one of the following programs or meet the USDA income guidelines: food stamps, AFDC, WIC, Welfare, Medicaid, SSI, Head Start, fuel assistance, family day care, Veteran’s Aid or Island Food Pantry.
Free Boat Inspections
The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will be conducting free vessel safety inspections at the piers of Coast Guard Station Menemsha on June 19. Anyone interested in this courtesy inspection should contact the station prior to bringing their boat up to the piers between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Unfortunately there are no accommodations for trailered boats.
Upon completion of a compliant inspection, the vessel will receive a Coast Guard Auxiliary safety sticker. The rain date will be June 26.
Please Adopt Us
The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School transportation subcommittee voted at their meeting last Monday night to cut off-Island field trip fees in half for student groups in the next school year. Committee members said they hoped the reduced fees would ease the financial burden on small groups that might otherwise have to sacrifice off-Island activities.
