She jets around the world with Olympic medalists, is gunning for her own chance at a medal in 2012 and she’ll even put you in touch with her publicist. It’s heady stuff for a high-schooler, but Solvig Sayre of Vineyard Haven remains grounded, having to balance the grueling demands placed on an athletic and academic all-star. While many of her classmates bravely fend off acute bouts of senioritis, Ms. Sayre has been windsurfing her way to the top of the national ranks, all while staying on the honor roll.
The Martha’s Vineyard 20 Miler race bgins at 11 a.m. on Feb. 13. From highly competitive athletes looking for a test of their Boston readiness to dedicated recreational runners seeking to extend the length of their monthly long-run, this USATF-sanctioned course is a highlight.

More than 100 fishermen attended the hearing hosted by the Committee on Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture on Jan. 14.

The team now stands atop the Eastern Athletic Conference with a record of 3-0, and already has clinched a berth in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association tournament, with roughly half a season yet to play.
The girls’ hockey team continues to improve and the boys’ hockey team staged a turnaround to the delight of team coach Matt Mincone.
