Appreciation Party
Friends are welcome to gather for an appreciation party for Penny Townes and Darlene Kelly, to honor them for their work at the Second Hand Store in Edgartown, on Tuesday, July 29, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Midnight Mermaid Gallery at 117 Main street in Edgartown. Gallery owner Rebekah Blu invites anyone for lemonade on the porch; vegetarian and sweet hors d’oeuvres are welcome, too. “Wear or bring your favorite thrift shop treasure, and come by to say thank you to Penny and Darlene,” Ms. Blu said.
Flea Pauses for Book Sale
There will be no Chilmark Flea market on Saturday, July 26, at the West Tisbury School due to the annual West Tisbury Library Book Sale which is held at the West Tisbury School. Parking space will not permit both events. The Chilmark Flea will resume on Wednesday, July 30, and on all subsequent Wednesdays and Saturdays through August 30.

Announcing Lathrop
Hillary Noyes and John Keene of Chilmark announce the birth of a son, Lathrop John Backus Keene on July 7 at the Martha’s Vineyard Community Hospital. Lathrop weighed 8 pounds, 10 ounces at birth. He is also welcomed by big sisters Adelaine, Thea and Ella.
