The Massachusetts Highway department has submitted two conceptual plans for the redesign of the intersection of State and Old County Roads to the town of West Tisbury, a problem intersection that has been the site of numerous accidents. The state plan calls for widening both roads, removing the triangular island and changing the angle of the intersection to more closely resemble a T shape.
West Tisbury selectmen on Wednesday took the first step toward qualifying the town as a green community under the state’s year-old Green Communities Act, which may translate to state grant money and technical assistance for the installation of renewable energy equipment like windmills and solar paneling.

Talent agent James Dixon appears unflappable, which is perhaps not surprising given that he is lounging under an umbrella out by the swimming pool at his South Summer street home, every inch the Hollywood player with perfect tan, great hair and aviator shades.
It’s also part of Mr. Dixon’s job to remain unruffled — he is a professional troubleshooter for his clients who include the Daily Show’s Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, two of network television’s most prominent late night presenters.
The Oak Bluffs selectmen hosted their annual meeting for summer taxpayers on Tuesday, and found this year that there were few people with little to complain about.
California Road resident Anne Theodore asked selectmen to do something about large trucks traveling at high speeds on her road. Another woman asked about the proposed new sewer line from the town wastewater plant down Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road, eventually connecting with the new YMCA and the regional high school.
