Library Raffle

The Edgartown library is running holiday raffle for three winter baskets of goodies: one for the mystery/adventure lover, one for the romance lover, and one for children. Each has a blanket to snuggle in and lots of good reading and assorted treats.

There also are two original pieces of art. One is a gold framed, scenic oil on canvas, of a classic Vineyard house by Donna Blackburn. The other is a contemporary mixed media work by P.G. Gravelle with a gold fillet frame.

Food and Fun

There will be a holiday bazaar, plus hot chili, chowder and drinks, at the Agricultural Hall on Panhandle Road in West Tisbury, on Friday, Dec. 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. Local businesses will sell their goods, including wreaths and poinsettias, and there will be a raffle with prizes including an iPod Nano and tickets to home games with the Boston Bruins hockey team and the Boston Celtics basketball team.

Carolee Stewart, a 1968 graduate of the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School, received the Hall of Fame Alumni Award from the University of Michigan’s School of Music, Theatre and Dance on Sept. 25.

Lobster Rolls Back

Celebrate Holly Day at the Grace Episcopal Church on the corner of Woodlawn and William streets in Vineyard Haven this Saturday, Dec. 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a luncheon including the church’s famous mini lobster rolls served with holiday flair between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The event features baked goods, a white elephant gifts table, Island handmade crafts, handmade knitwear, fresh centerpieces and door swags and a children’s room full of age-appropriate treasures under a dollar.

Crafts Fair

The Edgartown School’s eighth grade class has announced their annual Christmas in Edgartown Art and Crafts Fair. This year’s gathering of over 40 Island artists and craftspeople will be held in the Edgartown School gymnasium on Saturday, Dec. 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The show will feature Island jewelry, bath and body products, fiber arts, photography, fine art, leather, woodwork, candy, knitwear, ornaments, stained glass, shell craft and more. Parking and admission are free.
