School Book Fair

The Tisbury school library is getting set to hold its annual book fair beginning Nov. 28 and running through Dec. 1.

The theme of the fair this year is The Book Fair And Beyond! Books will be available for all ages, including adults. It is the perfect opportunity for everyone to add to their libraries and give the gift of reading.

Funds from the book fair help purchase print, audio and video resources that support the curriculum frameworks of the library and augment the reading interests of students.

Craps for Kids

Gambling can be good for you, and good for the kids. Shocking words but true this Friday, Nov. 18, when the Edgartown Yacht Club hosts its annual casino night to benefit the Boys’ and Girls’ Club.

Admission is a $10 donation at the door. Once inside, it’s anybody’s guess how much cash you lay down, but the more you lose, the more the kids gain. How’s that for some good odds?

It was magical. “It felt like we were borrowing a taste of the wind,” Miss Lani said.

Susan Savory, a woman whose name speaks to time in the kitchen, spends her days cooking up a different sort of delectable. Ms. Savory is in charge of the children’s books at the Bunch of Grapes Bookstore. Her title may be manager of kids’ books, or something to that effect, but that seems so corporate a moniker when describing someone who so embodies her work she appears almost like a character in a children’s book herself. Perhaps Fairy Godmother of Little People’s Literature might be closer to the mark.

Traffic delays will be likely during the morning and afternoon peak travel periods each day, according to the Corps of Engineers. Traffic control will be in place for the duration of the repairs.

The Bourne Bridge will be fully open to two lanes of traffic in each direction during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, from Wednesday, Nov. 23 at noon through Monday, Nov. 28 at 9 a.m.
