Edey Grant
The Sheriff’s Meadow Foundation has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Edey Foundation for the creation of an environmental education curriculum at Cedar Tree Neck Sanctuary.
The foundation aims to have the outdoor curriculum completed by Oct. 31 and ready for use in the spring of 2013.
Soft Cooked Eggs
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. With a slotted spoon, gently place the eggs into the boiling water making sure you have timer ready to set as soon as they hit the water. While the eggs are cooking, take a large bowl, fill it with lots of ice and water to make an ice water bath. When the eggs have cooked for your desired time, remove them with the same slotted spoon and plunge them into the ice water bath. Allow to cool 10 minutes, then peel and use as desired.

Dean’s List
Katharine Clarke, daughter of John and Nancy Clarke of Edgartown, has been named to the dean’s list at Endicott College for the fall term. Katharine is a junior majoring in English.

After all, her very first gig with the Sultans of Swing, the Martha’s Vineyard based event band most commonly seen at weddings and summer events, was a Nantucket wedding in which she sang two hours of overtime as a storm rolled in over the horizon.
Talk about a high-pressure situation.
The former Edgartown dredge committee chairman who took heat for using the town dredge to do work on a private project without proper permits has apologized and offered to pay the town’s legal fees.
Town counsel Ron Rappaport said at Monday’s selectmen meeting that Norman Rankow, the former dredge committee chairman, has offered to pay for “any legal and subsequent expenses” the town might have in dealing with the Jan. 13 unauthorized dredge at 51 Witchwood Lane, a property where Mr. Rankow was the general contractor.
