A foreclosure auction scheduled for developer Corey Kupersmith’s property in the Southern Woodlands in Oak Bluffs has been postponed. Originally set for Thursday morning, the auction is now scheduled for July 26 at 11 a.m. according to the Web site for JJ Manning Auctioneers.
New Bedford civic leaders this week doubled down on their push to have the Steamship Authority begin summer freight service between their city and the Vineyard, despite a detailed analysis from SSA senior managers that shows the service would be inefficient and prohibitively expensive.
At the monthly boat line meeting held in New Bedford Tuesday, SSA governor and board chairman John Tierney led the charge for freight service between the whaling city and the Island.
West Tisbury selectmen voted Wednesday to approve regulations for the sale of beer and wine.
The move comes less than one week after voters at the annual town election overwhelmingly approved permitting the sale of beer and wine at restaurants with more than 50 seats and issuing one-day beer and wine licenses for special events.
It looks like the Vineyard will remain a two-bookstore Island.
David LeBreton, the owner of Edgartown Books, said this week that he has a potential buyer for his bookstore, with the interested party planning to keep the bookstore operation in place.
The new owner would take ownership of the Main street building and the book business, which Mr. LeBreton has operated with his wife, Ann, for the last decade.
The Tisbury Volunteer Ambulance Association is strapping on its finery and taking to the catwalk for the first-ever Respond in Style Charity Fashion Show on Saturday, April 28 at the Harborview Hotel in Edgartown. The show, produced in honor of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Heart Attack and Stroke Awareness campaign, will take place from 7 to 10 p.m.

Edible Vineyard magazine received special recognition from Gov. Deval Patrick on April 3 at Ag Day, an annual event at the State House in Boston that promotes agriculture in Massachusetts. Edible Vineyard’s owner and publisher Sam Berlow attended the event. The five Edible publications in Massachusetts were recognized for their contributions to promoting local food and agriculture.
