A New York woman was sentenced to state prison Tuesday in Dukes County superior court on cocaine trafficking charges.
Mitefea Kelly, 18, pleaded guilty to trafficking in cocaine, 36 to 100 grams, and was sentenced to four to six years at Massachusetts Correctional Institution-Framingham, a medium-security prison for women, by the Hon. Robert C. Rufo, an associate justice of the superior court.
The charge was reduced from trafficking in cocaine, more than 200 grams.

Verizon’s proposal to build a cell phone tower to improve service in West Tisbury came before the Martha’s Vineyard Commission last week, sparking a long discussion and volumes of correspondence protesting the location of the tower near Tisbury Great Pond.
The company has proposed installing an 80-foot tower on a 50-square-foot piece of land on New Lane in West Tisbury, and has identified three potential locations for the tower. Two of the sites are in the inland zone of the coastal district of critical planning concern.

On Tuesday, Jan. 29, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Hospice of Martha’s Vineyard (HMV) is holding an open house at its new location in the Tisbury Market Place. For many years now HMV has worked out of a trailer on the grounds of the hospital but thanks to a gift from Katherine Graham in 2001 it was able to purchase a new condo unit.
A gift from Don Davis made in the name of his friend Dick Craven has also made possible a new library/meeting room. Others in the community have donated office furniture.
