Dining
For those of us who love good food, 2025 on Martha’s Vineyard was kind to us.
Vineyard Take Out, which has a location along State Road next to the West Tisbury post office, was picked by the airport commission to run the 2,500-square foot restaurant in the airport terminal.
In early December, Island chef Shamel Abraham opened Honorary Tavern at the VFW, serving a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu that blends Jamaican culinary influences with New England tavern fare.
In August, Susie Middleton, editor of Cook the Vineyard, was diagnosed with alpha-gal, the tick-borne illness that can make people allergic to red meat, dairy and other mammal products. She has now published an alpha-gal resource guide.
Tim Dobel and Meredith Aldrich, co-owners of the Mocha Mott’s coffee shops in Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven, are winding up their partnership after 24 years and putting their Vineyard Haven building on the market so that Mr. Dobel can retire.
After 14 years of nightly dinners at the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Oak Bluffs, Chef Deon’s Kitchen will close for good later this month, serving its final meals on Sept. 21.
