The West Tisbury Congregational Church will offer its third, popular summer sale of collectibles and treasures on the church grounds in the center of town on Saturday, July 24. The sale runs from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Big Drum Means Big Fun

The fourth annual Native Artisans’ Festival, where all are invited to meet native artists and purchase their works (clay and pottery, wampum and silver jewelry, beadwork and more), will be held on Saturday July 24, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Aquinnah Cultural Center (Vanderhoop Homestead) at the Aquinnah Circle on the Cliffs.

Enjoy native food cooked by Sly Fox’s Den and music and social dancing with the Wampanoag Nation Singers throughout the day. For details, call 508-645-7900.

Celebrate the Sea, Its Keepers and Songs

On Thursday night, Mark Alan Lovewell, a singer, storyteller and Vineyard Gazette reporter and photographer, will give a program called Celebration of the Sea, at the Old Whaling Church in Edgartown. The event is a fundraiser for the Martha’s Vineyard Preservation Trust and the Martha’s Vineyard Museum.

Hay bales in the distance, belted Galloways grazing in the fields, the sun setting softly over Katama Farm — it was a picturesque Vineyard evening for the Farm Institute’s Meals in the Meadow event Saturday night that was full of local food, drink, fun, and most importantly, education. The annual fundraiser was held to raise money for the institute’s education programs that teach children and adults sustainability through farming practices.

Eighth Graders Serve Tea

The eighth grade class of 2011 is hosting the 21st annual Edgartown Garden Walking Tour and Tea on Wednesday, July 21 (rain date, Thursday, July 22), from 1 to 4 p.m.

The popular tour benefits the class trip to Washington, D.C. Tickets are $5 and can be bought from any eighth grader, or at the Ashley Inn, Saffron or Edgartown Books.
