Long gone are the days of Two-Buck Chuck that Stephanie Browne and her close group of girlfriends sipped throughout college. Cheap chardonnay and chablis have been replaced with a palette of curiosity, one that led them to form a wine club that eventually turned into Divas Uncorked. This weekend, the group of friends and their guests will host the fourth annual Wine and Food Festival, where Islanders and visitors will dine on the best food the Island has to offer accompanied by the best New England wine.

For more than 25 years a nonprofit group on the Vineyard has worked creatively to help keep personal disputes from building into court cases that burden the judicial system and often cost the people in conflict more than they win when the court makes a ruling.

Quarter Century in Eden

Eden Market and Garden Center is celebrating 25 years; on Friday, August 13 the garden center will host a party from 4 to 7 p.m. with games, gifts and prizes. Admission is free; all are welcome.

Peter Appeldoorn Mead

A memorial service for Peter Appeldoorn Mead, who died on Jan. 28, 2010, in Grenada, West Indies, will be held on Thursday, August 12, at 2 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Church, 51 Winter street in Edgartown. Peter’s friends are invited to attend.

Antiques Auction

Antiques lovers may preview a midsummer auction from 1 p.m . on Saturday, August 7, at the Grange Hall on State Road in West Tisbury. A wine and cheese reception begins at 5 p.m. as part of the Fine Antique, Marine and Estate Auction with items from estates on Island and all up and down the East Coast.
