Meadow Arrives

Madison Ibsen and Thomas Christopher, of Oak Bluffs, announce the birth of a daughter, Meadow Kay Christopher, born on July 27.

 

 

 

Katherine Arrives

Dianne and Gerret C. Conover of Edgartown announce the birth of their second daughter, Katherine Alexa Conover, born Dec. 5 at the Falmouth Hospital. She weighed 7 pounds 13 ounces and is welcomed by her big sister Caroline. The grandparents are Paula and Gerret D. Conover of Edgartown, Sheila and Paul Lister of Falmouth and Ellen and Charles McCluskey of Vineyard Haven.

Sarah and Christopher Lynch of Edgartown announce the birth of a son, Jon (Jack) David Lynch, born on Dec. 19, 2008, at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Jack weighed 5 pounds, 14 ounces at birth.

Vineyarder and National Guardsman Chris Brown was honored last Friday with the highest award given in the state, the Massachusetts Medal of Merit Award, for saving a life in recent ice storm.

Specialist James Norman Christopher Brown 2nd — known in the Guard as James, though Islanders know him as Chris — was one of two guardsmen based in Agawam who responded to a 71-year-old Blandford woman who is alive because of the efforts.

Three Falmouth Academy students from Martha’s Vineyard have earned places in competitive, high school music festivals — the Senior Southeast District Music Festival, which will be January 9-10 at Brockton High School, and the Cape and Islands Music Festival to be held February at Barnstable High School.

Scholarships Awarded

Ryan Antolick and Ana Sargent from the Martha’s Vineyard Public Charter School have received the John and Abigail Adams achievement scholarship. Students who are granted this scholarship have scored in the advanced category in either mathematics or English language arts section of the grade 10 MCAS test and in the proficient or advanced category on the second subject (mathematics or English language arts).
