Meadow Arrives

Madison Ibsen and Thomas Christopher, of Oak Bluffs, announce the birth of a daughter, Meadow Kay Christopher, born on July 27.

Wendy and Joe Guarino, Ronalee and Paul Corwin, and Richard Lewis are pleased to announce the engagement of their children, Richard Corwin and Ashley Guarino. A wedding is planned for summer, 2010.

Sundays at the Library

The Vineyard Haven Public Library is now open on Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. Free coffee will be served, donated by Mocha Mott’s. The library will also offer Sunday afternoon programs monthly at 2 p.m., sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Christina Mason Johnson of New York city and Natick was wed Oct. 11 to Eric Douglas Smith at St. John on the Mountain Episcopal Church in Bernardsville, N.J. Rector Matthew Engelby performed the ceremony at 4 p.m., assisted by visiting Rev. Douglas E. Remer of Tampa, Fla. Alison Dunn of Natick was maid of honor and Brian Repetz was best man. The bride wore the same veil that her great-grandmother, Eleanor McCarter Young, wore at her wedding 90 years ago.

Howdy, Damon

Kelley Henry and Antone Silvia of Edgartown announce the birth of a son, Damon Robert Silvia, born on Nov. 17, 2008 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Damon weighed 8 pounds, .2 ounces at birth.

Elin R. Nelson, a senior at Falmouth Academy, is one of 12 Falmouth Academy students recognized by the 2009 National Merit Scholarship Program because of their high scores on the qualifying test they took last fall. Elin was named a commended student. She is the daughter of Jeffrey Nelson and Dawne Charters-Nelson of Vineyard Haven. Of the more than 1.5 million high school juniors across the country who took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test,34,000 were commended for their exceptional academic promise.
