This eight-week indoor cycling class for women uses meditation, breath play and guided imagery inspired by renowned psychotherapist Belleruth Naparstek.

Suicide Prevention

Island Elderly Housing will host a community forum on suicide prevention on Wednesday, Oct. 27 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. The forum, presented by the Cape and Islands Suicide Prevention Coalition, is open to all.

Suicide is a very real problem among our youth and elderly, particularly in the dark days of winter. The forum will feature a conversation with Dr. Sally Spencer-Thomas, an internationally renowned clinical psychologist, mental health advocate and, significantly, a suicide survivor.

Medicare

All seniors who have Medicare Part D Prescription Drug coverage should review their current plan to see if it remains cost-effective and has all of their drugs for 2011. Medicare posts formularies, premiums and drug costs for all Part D plans for next year on the Medicare Web site, medicare.gov, on or about Oct. 15.

Unless you are a Prescription Advantage member or meet a limited number of special cases criteria, you can only change your Part D plan once a year between Nov. 15 and Dec. 31.

Insight Meditation

The Insight Meditation Community (IMC) of Martha’s Vineyard is beginning again after a one-year absence.

Sessions will be held at the Unitarian Universalist’s Memorial Chapel on Main street in Vineyard Haven (one block from the Vineyard Haven Public Library towards West Chop) on Saturday afternoons from 2:30 to 4 p.m.

Lyme Discussion

Lyme and tick-borne diseases discussion and support group meets on Monday, Oct. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at Howes House (across from Alley’s) in the West Tisbury Library. Dr. Enid Haller, ACSW, PhD, a year-round resident of West Tisbury will lead the talk including a question and answer session.
