The future of the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks is looking bright — and a lot more comfortable, too.

When the Sharks, who play in the wooden-bat Futures Collegiate Baseball League, begin their third season in June, they will do so at a much-improved home field, situated at the regional high school.

West Tisbury selectmen will continue to explore options regarding development of the town’s planned solar array at the landfill. Town counsel Ronald Rappaport appeared at Wednesday’s board of selectmen meeting to discuss the matter, reporting that the Cape & Vineyard Electric Cooperative (CVEC) had amended the contract he and associate Fain Hackney negotiated in December of last year. The original project lender had withdrawn, and CVEC had found a new lender, Deutsche Bank.

On Tuesday afternoon, the boys’ basketball team took on defending state champion Danvers in the semifinals of the Division 3 state tournament, battling back and forth with the Falcons on the green-painted parquet of the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston. The game had just about everything — late rallies, one-point leads, clutch breakaways and raucous fans — but a Hollywood ending never came for the Vineyard. The team fell 50-47 in the final second.

From charter members to recently diagnosed patients to caregivers, over 50 people attended the annual Martha’s Vineyard Cancer Support Group celebration of survival and support on Sunday night. The potluck dinner was held at the Portuguese-American Club in Oak Bluffs.
