The chevron, the handlebar, the walrus, the Fu Manchu — these are just a few of the terms that have become part of the Tisbury School lexicon thanks to the movement known as Movember. This year the school used the growing of mustaches as a way to help the Island Food Pantry.

Cold winds deterred some but not all as VCS led a guided walk at the Gay Head Cliffs on Saturday. The location was significant as VCS celebrates it’s 50th anniversary this year, and was instrumental in creating national landmark status for the cliffs in 1965.

Muppets, queens, fairies and even a scary skeleton attended a Halloween Festival and Nancy Luce Birthday Party on the grounds of the future Martha’s Vineyard Museum site on Sunday afternoon.

On Thursday night at the regional high school, two Island women, Lynn Ditchfield and Rebecca McCarthy, gave a presentation on their recent journey to the Artesia Detention Center in New Mexico to help Central American refugees seeking asylum from violence in their home countries.
