A celebration of Island cats and dogs is currently on display in the Spotlight Gallery at the Martha’s Vineyard Museum. The exhibit, which runs through Jan. 28, showcases the role of pets in the lives of Islanders since the mid 19th century.

For the past 15 years Megan Carroll has commuted from the Island to her job at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. At a lecture sponsored by Sail MV, she discussed her work on deep-ocean submersibles.

Saturday was the last night at the Ocean View for the ownership of Ron and Peggy Jackson who have owned the popular bar and restaurant for 36 years. The place was packed, as always, this time with friends, family and former employees.

Island attorney Rebecca McCarthy is working to clarify some of the confusion around President Obama's executive order, which was part of an initiative to address the country's immigration issues. At a recent informational forum, nearly every seat was filled.
