Habitat Open House
On Saturday, May 24 at 9 a.m., an open house and dedication is scheduled for Andrews Road in Vineyard Haven to celebrate Habitat for Humanity’s fifth house on the Island. The house is now nearing completion.
Habitat homes are affordable because of labor and material donations, the sweat equity of the new family and financial help from the community. More information about Habitat is available by calling 508-696-4646.

Charter Membership Rate
Vineyard Village At Home, a nonprofit business that offers assistance to Island residents 55 years of age and older, is offering a charter membership rate to give access to its services.
For a limited time, the charter membership rate for a one-year membership is $450 for an individual and $600 for a household. The membership dues will increase after Sept. 30.
Alasdair Fraser, one of Scotland’s finest fiddlers, and Natalie Haas, the talented young Californian cellist will perform at the Katharine Cornell Theatre on Thursday, May 15, at 8 p.m.

Let’s Talk About Race
Moving Beyond Race: The Dialogue Continues is the program on Wednesday, May 14, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center on Centre street in Vineyard Haven.
The Island Diversity Council, Martha’s Vineyard NAACP, and the Social Action Committee of the Hebrew Center will show the video Eye of the Storm: Sharing Powerful Lessons About Racism, followed by a community discussion. All are welcome.
Stream Talk
Greg Whitmore, ecologist for The Trustees of Reservations, will give a talk titled In a Vineyard Stream May
18 at the Mary P. Wakeman Center on Shirley avenue off Lambert’s Cove Road in Vineyard Haven.
Mr. Whitmore will discuss aquatic biomonitoring and the stream insects of the Vineyard. Admission is free. Pre-register by calling 508-693-7662, extension 11.
