Spice of Life
Storytelling is her game, Susan Klein is her name. The name of her hugely popular memoir-writing workshop is Spice of Life.
If you want the benefit of Ms. Klein’s organization and writing advice, sign up now for the Spice that arrives in January: the next workshop will be held on Thursday afternoons, 1 to 3:30 p.m. weekly from Jan. 6 to March 3 next year at the Tisbury Senior Center, 34 Pine Tree Road in Vineyard Haven.
Erin Go Bragh
They are not in Ireland yet, but it’s the next best thing this Wednesday night at Offshore Ale in Oak Bluffs.
Students of Irish history at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School are raising money for their trip in February.
The night includes a feast of all things Irish: Leek and potato soup, smoked salmon and Irish brown bread, and Irish stew. For dessert there is chocolate stout cake with Bailey’s frosting. Seatings are at 5, 6:30 and 8 p.m.
Oh, the weather outside is frightful. But the Mongolian sheepskin is so delightful. So let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
Hey, wait, isn’t it supposed to be the fire that’s delightful? Well, no real need for the yule log if dressed in Minor Knight’s handmade and very warm artwear.
On Saturday, Dec. 18, there will be a giant fundraiser to celebrate Haiti’s strength and perseverance. The word giant is no mere hyperbole, either.
The music will be giant. Kahoots, Master Exploder, Philly D., Goodnight Louise, Deeja Di, DCLA, Island Thunder, Mercy Beat, Erich Luening, Meghan LaRoque, Rick Bausman and the Drum Workshop and Kevin Keady are all in, and the list is growing.
The activities will be giant. There will be a potluck, an art auction, hula hooping with Coco the Clown, and much, much more, organizers promise.
