Must be the time of year. I have been starting my last few columns with food news and today is no exception.

My go to food is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. A friend brought me a jar of cranberry and jalapeno pepper jam from Linda Alley’s New Lane Sundries in West Tisbury.

My dear friend, Chrissy McCarthy, identified a new word for me: Taro. I found this root vegetable in the bottom of a pot I was saving to replant things in.
