The Oak Bluffs School has announced its honor roll for the first quarter of the 2013-2014 academic year.
With virtually no discussion, the regional high school district committee voted Monday to certify an $18.6 million operating budget for the coming year. Salary increases, funding for a school resource officer and a recently completed roof replacement project are all including in the spending package.
Matthew D’Andrea hated third grade. But in fourth grade he was assigned an inspiring teacher, Mr. Mansfield, who made learning fun and positive. “For the first time, I looked forward to coming to school,” Mr. D’Andrea said in a recent interview.
The coveted silver trophy is back on Martha's Vineyard, with the Vineyard football team defeating Nantucket 14-0 in the annual Island Cup Saturday. Sophomore Jacob Cardoza carried the day with two touchdowns.
For one day every year, the Island Cup trophy sits on the sidelines of a football field, where its home for the next year will be determined. For the other 364 days, the trophy sits in a case.
The Tisbury School hosts its Scholastic book fair from Dec. 2 to Dec. 5 in the school’s library. The public is welcome to come browse the sale with part of the proceeds going to purchasing print, audio and video resources for the school.
