A reminder that the Chappy Ferry will rely on just one ferry boat beginning Sunday, Oct. 19. Since it is the shorter of the two ferryboats, figure on spending extra time in the line.
A potluck supper will be held Wednesday, Oct. 15 at the Chappy Community Center from 6 to 8 p.m. Bring a dish to serve eight and your own refreshments.
I know that I sound like a skipping record with my reminders that starting on Oct. 19, which is the day after the derby ends, through Thanksgiving, only one Chappy ferry will be in service.
Keep an eye on those two potential hurricanes just off of the doorstep of Cape Hatteras.
