The Martha’s Vineyard Sharks season came to a close Friday night at the Shark Tank with a loss to the Keene Swamp Bats in the second game of the NECBL Championship.
It was a West Tisbury School trifecta on the men’s side at the Chilmark Road Race on Saturday, with Sam Fetters taking first place, Jack Lionette coming in second and Michael Schroeder notching third place.
The Sharks are advancing to the NECBL championship after pulling off an improbable comeback in against the Newport Gulls. The win sends them to the league championship series, where they will face Keene Swampbats.
The Martha’s Vineyard Sharks are moving on to the second round of the playoffs. After sweeping the Bristol Blues in commanding fashion, the Sharks will travel to Newport, R.I., to open the South Division Championship Series on Monday night.
