The sharp pop of pickleball echoed across the high school tennis courts on Saturday as dozens of players filled the courts to raise money and create awareness for Stand With Everyone Against Rape (SWEAR), an initiative at the regional high school.
The Martha’s Vineyard Sharks season came to a close Friday night at the Shark Tank with a loss to the Keene Swamp Bats in the second game of the NECBL Championship.
The Sharks are advancing to the NECBL championship after pulling off an improbable comeback in against the Newport Gulls. The win sends them to the league championship series, where they will face Keene Swampbats.
The Martha’s Vineyard Sharks are moving on to the second round of the playoffs. After sweeping the Bristol Blues in commanding fashion, the Sharks will travel to Newport, R.I., to open the South Division Championship Series on Monday night.
After stomping the NECBL’s best team 11-2 Saturday night, the playoffs are firmly in the sights of this year’s Martha’s Vineyard Sharks team.
After striking out to end Monday’s 10-3 loss to the Bristol Blues, outfielder Dominic Moats slammed his bat into the dirt. On his way back to the dugout, the redshirt freshman snapped it clean over his leg.
