After 27 years of coaching the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School boys’ varsity hockey team, Matt Mincone is retiring. His long career included two state championship wins.

From the track to the tennis courts, the lacrosse fields to the baseball and softball diamonds, to the ocean waters, spring sports is firing on all cylinders.

The state Marine Fisheries Advisory Commission voted late last month to adopt a 16-inch minimum size limit on the two fish, which are staples of the Martha’s Vineyard Striped Bass and Bluefish Derby.

The 36th annual ice show led the audience through earth, wind, water and fire with group and solo routines last weekend.
