A spate of home break-ins around the Island has led to the arrest of a 27-year-old Pennsylvania man who police said stole more than $85,000 in jewelry and other items. Bail was set at $10,000 in each of nine separate cases, and pretrial hearings continued to Sept. 16.

A Vineyard Haven man was sentenced to at least three years in state prison Wednesday after pleading guilty to drug charges in Dukes County superior court.
Jeffrey T. Moore, 44, pleaded guilty to possessing to distribute a class A substance (heroin) and possessing to distribute a class B substance before Hon. Gary A. Nickerson, associate justice of the superior court. He was sentenced to three to three and a half years at Massachusetts Correctional Institution at Cedar Junction, a maximum security prison in Walpole. The sentence will start Sept. 4.
Criminal charges against an embattled former Tisbury police officer have been dismissed.
Last Friday in Edgartown district court all charges were dropped against Kelly Kershaw, 31, a former police officer who has been involved in more than one public dispute with the town and police.
A Virginia woman was arrested in Edgartown last week for allegedly having more than $2,200 worth of stolen clothing in her car.
A medical examiner has ruled that a body recovered from Rock Pond on Monday afternoon in West Tisbury was an accidental drowning, state police said Wednesday.
Robert (Bob) Lee, a resident of 3 Rock Pond Road in West Tisbury, was unresponsive when he was pulled from the water. State police were called to the scene to conduct an investigation, according to Sgt. Jeff Stone.
Mr. Lee was spotted in the pond by neighbors who contacted authorities around 3 p.m. The medical examination revealed nothing suspicious, Mr. Stone said. Mr. Lee was 66.
