Michael Cotrone, a former army captain, was sworn in as a full-time Oak Bluffs police officer on Wednesday. Mr. Cotrone graduated from the Plymouth Police Academy last Friday where he was president of his class.

Patrick A. Joyce, 27, was placed on long-term probation and assigned a long-term plan to repay more than $35,000 to the Jerry Bennett swing band that employed him. The case dates to last year and was disposed of in district court last week.

A Falmouth clerk magistrate found probable cause to bring two criminal complaints against Russell R. Ventura, who was off duty when his vehicle hit a tree on Edgartown-West Tisbury Road on the night of Jan. 16. He is on leave without pay from the department.
