Opinion
From the June 7, 1940 edition of the Vineyard Gazette:
As a conservation biologist on the Island for the past 30 years, I have become increasingly concerned about the future of our common pond turtles.
Over three days on two streets I counted a terrible tally: three dead catbirds, three dead squirrels.
On Sunday the regional high school class of 2024 will walk across the Tabernacle stage, traveling in that short distance from high school students to the next steps in their young lives: college, work, travel, the possibilities are limitless.
On Saturday early evening on May 26th of Memorial Day weekend my family was in Oak Bluffs to get ice cream.
I have participated in the Cross-Island Hike at least 15 times, but at 77 years old, at the end of each year’s hike I mutter: “This will be my last one.”
