Car Campaign
The Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs in Massachusetts will now accept most any car. Cars will be sold at auction and the proceeds will be used to help the local clubs. Call 1-800-246-0493.
Cancer Society Benefit
The Vineyard Tennis Center will host Love At First Set, a tennis doubles tournament in honor of Mebbit Morano, Tami Pine-Willett, and Mary Walker, who all lost their battle with cancer in the past year and a half.
Autism Support Group
A support group is forming for families with children on the autism spectrum. The group will provide a place for conversation and sharing of resources and experiences in navigating the autism spectrum.
The first meeting will be held Thursday, Feb. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Chilmark library. More information is available by calling 508-645-3245 or 508-645-8002.
Hello, Autumn-Anne
Andrea and Daniel Donnelly of Edgartown announce the birth of a daughter, Autumn-Anne Donnelly, born on Jan. 23 at the Martha’s Vineyard Community Hospital. She weighed 7 pounds at birth.
Requesting Proposals
The Peter and Elizabeth C. Tower Foundation of Getzville, N.Y., has released two requests for proposals. The first inititiative would provide support for data-driven instruction. The second initiative would promote the use of technology-based remediation for students performing below grade level in one or more areas. Young Writers Recognized
For Their Skill in Writing
Four students at the Edgartown School have received recognition for their writing skills.
Amy Fligor, Maggie Lindland and Hunter Thomas have been recognized through a number of national contests for poetry. Eva Faber recently participated in the elite writing contest sponsored by the National Council of Teachers of English called Promising Young Writers.
