Public Speaking Workshop
Susan Klein and Charlie Esposito will offer a workshop in March and April on effective public speaking and microphone use.
The workshop will meet four consecutive Thursday afternoons, March 13, 20, 27 and April 3 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the Tisbury Senior Center on Pine street in Vineyard Haven.

Edgartown School Theatre
Celebrates Science Fiction
Starting tonight, Friday, Feb. 8 and running through Sunday, the Edgartown School Theatre Department will present Starmites, a musical science fiction adventure.
Directed by Donna Swift and Beth Carr, the show is about a girl who is transported into one of her favorite comic books to help battle evil and restore order to Earth and Innerspace.
Information Meeting Is
Scheduled on Wind Farm
Cape Wind and the Martha’s Vineyard chapter of Clean Power Now will co-host a meeting on Monday, Feb. 11 about the proposed wind farm in Nantucket Sound. The meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. in the Katharine Cornell Theatre in Vineyard Haven.
Speakers include Mark Rodgers of Cape Wind, which has proposed building the wind farm, and Sharon Strimling Florio of Clean Power Now.

Poultry Raising Workshops
The Island Grown Initiative will sponsor poultry workshops on Saturday, Feb. 16 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the agricultural hall in West Tisbury.
Workshops will be held all day about raising egg layers, housing, processing and marketing. They are open to all levels of interest and experience.
Daffodil Days
Each year in March, the American Cancer Society’s Daffodil Days provides an opportunity for Island residents to lend a helping hand in the fight against cancer.
Contributions received through the sale of daffodils help to keep the society’s vital resources in place for those who are or have been affected by cancer. The American Cancer Society also needs drivers to deliver daffodils in the community during the week of March 17. To volunteer or to place an order, please call 1-800-227-2345.
School Fundraiser
The Edgartown School will sponsor its second annual Midwinter Silent and Live Auction today to raise funds for the eighth grade class trip to Washington, D.C. The trip will cost $33,000.
The event is scheduled at the Oyster Bar & Grill, 57 Circuit avenue, Oak Bluffs from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Clarence (Trip) Barnes is the auctioneer. More information is available by calling 508-627-3316.
