The Dukes County Commission is looking to fill the seat left vacant by Paul Strauss who retired from many of his public service positions last month. Letters of interest from those willing and qualified to complete the remainder of Mr. Strauss’s term are due by July 18 at 4 p.m. Applicants should be a resident of any Island town except West Tisbury or a resident of Gosnold and at least 18 years of age. County manager Russell Smith said the county is looking for someone with a desire to serve the public and a familiarity with the community. The job offers no pay.
