Announcing Nathalya

Patricia and Edson Da Silva of West Tisbury announce the birth of a daughter, Nathalya Noronha Da Silva, born on August 28, 2009, at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Nathalya weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces at birth.

Anne Williamson has been elected as chairman of the board of the Permanent Endowment Fund, replacing Debbie Hale, who stepped down after eight years. “It was time to bring new leadership to the board,” said Ms. Hale. “Anne will be a dynamic and effective chair and I look forward to working with her as I continue as a member of this active, volunteer board.

Laudiceia Evangelista Donato and Adelson Donato of Edgartown announce the birth of a daughter, Rayssa Mel Evangelista Donato, born on August 28, 2009, at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Rayssa weighed 7 pounds, 2 ounces at birth.

There’s a new environmental police sergeant in town, and while he doesn’t live on the Vineyard, Matt Bass is nevertheless a familiar face around the Island shoreline. He worked for The Trustees of Reservations on Chappaquiddick in the early 1990s, and after that he went on to work at the Cape Cod National Seashore for several years before becoming a state environmental police officer.

The Adult and Community Education Program of Martha’s Vineyard (ACE MV) has a new collaboration with the Northeastern University, allowing Vineyarders a much-needed opportunity to earn college credits without leaving the Island.

ACE MV will provide professional development courses for graduate and undergraduate college credit, in addition to its wide-ranging roster of 50 enrichment courses and seminars starting Oct. 5.
