James Baird Graduates
James Baird, of Oak Bluffs, has graduated with a degree in economics from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

Jorgiana Paiva and Ademir Mendes of Oak Bluffs announce the birth of a daughter, Thaila Ferreira de Paiva, born on June 2, 2010, at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Thaila weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces at birth. She joins big sister Thais.
Ever since she was young, 20-year-old Emily Reich knew she belonged on the water.
“I started sailing at the East Chop yacht club when I was only eight years old, after my mom brought us here to the Island. Normally they don’t let you start sailing until you’re 10. But they let me try and I took to it . . . I was comfortable out there. I was at home. And I’ve been around boats ever since,” she said.
The summer maintenance to-do list at Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary has become noticeably shorter this week, thanks to the efforts of an off-Island volunteer crew.
