Free Boat Inspections
The Woods Hole Coast Guard Auxiliary is offering free vessel inspection in Oak Bluffs and Edgartown tomorrow (Saturday) from 9:30 to 1:30 p.m.
The courtesy inspections are intended to promote boating safety and are not in any way punitive. Interested boaters and their vessels are encouraged to meet at the docks near the Edgartown Yacht Club or near the Oak Bluffs harbormaster shack.
For more information on the Coast Guard Auxiliary contact David Pothier where he works, at Cars Unlimited at 508-693-6544.
Sail Martha’s Vineyard, organizers of the Vineyard Cup Regatta next weekend, have been certified as a clean regatta by Sailors for the Sea, the only ocean conservation nonprofit focused on the sailing and boating community. The three-day event features daily races, plus evening food and refreshments open to everyone on the Island.
A Melrose woman who took a trip to the Vineyard for the day with her husband, friends and young family, was killed in a grisly accident on Tuesday afternoon when she fell from her bike on State Road in Vineyard Haven into the path of an oncoming tractor trailer.
