The Martha’s Vineyard Youth Leadership Initiative has announced the nominees for its 2012 Youth Leadership Summit.
Baseball and boys’ lacrosse advanced to the postseason this week, joining both tennis teams and girls’ lacrosse in the state tournament. Softball remains in the hunt for a tournament spot with two games yet to play.
Baseball
The team secured its first postseason berth in 10 years with a 9-1 win over Nantucket on Saturday. After a win over Chatham on Wednesday, they moved to an 11-7 (4-4 in the EAC) season record with one remaining game still scheduled for today.
Announcing Edward
Lea and Ted Rosbeck of Edgartown announce the birth of a son, Edward Van Rosbeck Jr., born on May 12, 2012 at the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital. Edward weighed 6 pounds, 7 ounces at birth. He joins big sister Alana.
Clarifications
A story in the May 18 Gazette stated that regional high school senior Madison Hughes will be the first Vineyard lacrosse player to play the sport at a division one school. In fact, Ms. Hughes will be the first female player to do so; the boys’ program has sent players to division one programs in previous years.
