The undefeated high school boys' tennis team picked up their 22nd win of the season Monday afternoon with a 4-1 victory over Weston, punching their ticket to the Division 3 state finals in the process.

Junior Justice Yennie, who kept his own unbeaten streak alive, picked up the first win of the day at third singles. The second doubles team of juniors Ryan Sawyer and Justin Smith dropped their match to put the score at 1-1, but first doubles duo Jackson McBride and Natty Schneider put the Vineyard back in the lead.

Edgartown has been fined more than $8,000 by the state Department of Environmental Protection in response to unauthorized dredging that occurred in January in Katama Bay, though an environmental assessment showed few long-term impacts from the project.

Town counsel Ronald Rappaport told the selectmen Monday that the fine, which was originally $16,320, was reduced by 50 per cent because of “good faith actions promptly taken by the town.”

Here are the cold, hard facts – The Martha’s Vineyard Ice Arena plans to expand, and the public is invited to help plan. The Arena, along with Mashek MacLean Architects, will host an open forum at 5:30 p.m. on June 12 at the P.A. Club in Oak Bluffs. Everyone is invited to come and break the ice at the debate table, making suggestions for arena improvements. It will be a place to get in touch with your inner Zamboni — sharing opinions and asking questions to create a smoother ice rink experience.

Congratulations to the Martha's Vineyard Regional High School Class of 2012, which graduates today. The ceremony begins at 1:30 p.m. at the Tabernacle in Oak Bluffs, and is open to the public.
